The vast Maasai Mara is home to many diverse types of wild animals, which live in the most natural primitive habitat. A Maasai Mara safari will engage almost all of your senses: The sight of predators like lions and cheetahs hunt for prey with expertise is bewitching. Inhale the fresh unpolluted air with a mix of animal blood and corpse stench that hyenas and vultures clean up after lions. Your fingers will itch to stroke the rugged golden mane of a lion or the beautiful puppy looking cubs. Sound of the Maasai Mara National Reserve range from the deafening lion roar and trumpeting of elephants and thundering hooves of buffaloes and gazelles running for their lives. You will be tempted to join the birds as they sing and chirp happily in the great Maasai Mara.
Many tourists flock Maasai Mara Kenya every year from June through to October to witness the great migration which is seventh wonder of the world; as wildebeests, zebras in their thousands cross the Mara River from Serengeti in search for pasture.
This morning we drive through the dramatic Great Rift Valley that has a magnificent view. The drive takes 4-5 hours we get to the Maasai Mara National Reserve in time for lunch and an afternoon game drive. Later in the evening we return for dinner an optional camp fire and overnight stay in one of the Maasai Mara Safari camps: Sarova Tented Camp, Siana Tented Camp or Mara Simba Lodge
The search for great predators and perhaps even cubs continues today early morning before they hide in acacia boughs. On the Maasai Mara plains are enormous herds of grazing animals plus the elusive Cheetah and leopard. During your Maasai Mara Safari, an optional visit to the Maasai village can be arranged at an added fee. Here you will witness their culture, singing dancing and sacred rituals. A sight of their lifestyle and social structure is a moving experience. Then return to camp for dinner and overnight
Early morning after a quick snack we depart for a morning game drive. Into the dense vegetation, over stretched grasslands teeming with wildlife. There is a melancholic feeling for leaving the Maasai Mara National Reserve, but also an appreciation of the jungle lesson; living in the moment without stress or fear of the future. No matter how much you have heard or thought of Africa, the Maasai Mara always exceeds your expectations. After, a full English breakfast back at the camp or Lodge, depart for Nairobi by road.
